The 40-layer ultra-high-rise arbitrary interconnection PCB is a high-end printed circuit carrier designed for ultra-high performance and high integration scenarios. Its core features include full-layer free interconnection, micron-level precision manufacturing, and high-speed, low-loss transmission. It can meet the high-density interconnection and stable electrical performance requirements of computing hardware, high-frequency communication, and high-end industrial control fields.

40-Layer Ultra-High-Rise Arbitrary Interconnection PCB Solution

Core Architecture and Layer Stack-up Logic This solution uses 40 layers of copper foil and high-frequency, low-loss insulating dielectric alternately vacuum-laminated. Internally, it is divided into three functional layers: signal transmission layer, power supply layer, and grounding shielding layer, arranged according to a symmetrical and balanced principle to ensure overall structural stability and consistent electrical performance. The arbitrary interconnection mechanism breaks the layer limitations of traditional through-holes and stepped blind vias, allowing for the establishment of micro-blind via connections between any two layers without layer-by-layer transitions. This significantly improves wiring density and space utilization, making complex interconnection paths simpler and more efficient.

Key Process Implementation Path

1. Precision Hole Forming and Interlayer Interconnection
Utilizing laser micro-drilling as the core hole-forming method, combined with a fully automated electroplating filling process, micro-blind vias with a minimum diameter of 0.075mm are formed. The via walls are uniform and void-free, ensuring reliable interlayer conductivity. An automated alignment system is used throughout the process, controlling interlayer alignment accuracy within ±25μm, avoiding the risk of misalignment after multilayer lamination and ensuring the overall consistency of the 40-layer structure.

2. Fine Circuit Forming
Based on laser direct imaging technology, micron-level circuit formation with a minimum linewidth/spacing of 3mil is achieved. Combined with high-precision etching control, the circuit edges are smooth, and dimensional tolerances are stable, adapting to the signal transmission requirements of high-density wiring scenarios.

3. Multilayer Vacuum Lamination
Employing a segmented temperature-controlled, balanced pressure vacuum lamination process, matched with a low-expansion-coefficient dielectric material, the warpage of the 40-layer board is controlled within 0.5%, avoiding defects such as interlayer separation and dielectric cracking, ensuring long-term structural stability.

Material Selection and Performance Support High-speed, high-frequency dedicated substrates are prioritized, such as Rogers and Isola Astra MT77 low-loss dielectrics, which have stable loss factors and dielectric constants, suitable for high-speed signal transmission of 112Gbps and above, reducing the risk of signal attenuation and distortion. Balancing structural strength and heat dissipation requirements, high thermal conductivity copper foil and low thermal expansion coefficient insulation materials are used to balance mechanical stability and thermal conductivity efficiency, ensuring long-term stable operation in high-power scenarios.

4. Key Points for Electrical Performance Assurance Precise Impedance Control:

Achieve ±5% tolerance control for single-ended and differential impedances. Maintain continuous signal transmission impedance through uniform dielectric thickness and stable line parameters, reducing reflections and ringing.

Crosstalk Suppression Optimization: Utilize independent signal layers and dense grounding layers for isolation, shortening the signal return path, reducing inter-layer and inter-line crosstalk, and improving the stability of multi-channel parallel transmission.

Power Transmission Optimization: Construct a low-impedance power supply network using multi-layer continuous power supplies and grounding planes, reducing voltage drop and noise interference, and ensuring stable overall power supply.

This solution primarily targets scenarios such as AI servers, supercomputing core boards, 5G/6G communication base stations, high-end RF equipment, and semiconductor testing devices. Compared to conventional high-layer PCBs, its arbitrary interconnection capability reduces via footprint and increases integration density; the 40-layer architecture can accommodate more independent signal and power supply channels, addressing the three core requirements of high speed, high reliability, and high density, thus becoming a key support platform for the performance upgrade of high-end electronic hardware.
